Biography
Yuta Tamura
Born in Hyogo, Japan. Based in Kobe.
Yuta Tamura is a contemporary artist working across painting, relief, and installation. His practice includes pixel-based works, abstract painting, plant-based imagery, and works incorporating materials such as plants, soil, rope, and fabric, which he develops in parallel.
Throughout Tamura’s practice, there has been a consistent attention toward the relationship between materials and existence, despite shifts in methods and media. Rather than treating materials as mere means of production, he engages with their inherent qualities and the passage of time, exploring how we might relate to things that are continuously changing.
Through diverse media and materials, Tamura’s works do not simply present fixed forms or completed states. Instead, they open up multiple ways of being through the transformations of materials and their relationships with viewers and the places in which they are exhibited.
田村 勇太｜Yuta Tamura
兵庫県生まれ。神戸市を拠点に活動。
田村勇太は、平面、半立体、インスタレーションなど複数の表現媒体を横断しながら制作を行う現代美術家である。ピクセル表現を用いたキャラクター作品や抽象絵画、植物をモチーフとした絵画作品、植物や土、縄、布などの素材を用いた作品など、異なる表現を並行して展開している。
田村の制作には、表現方法や素材が変化していく中でも一貫して、物質や存在との関係を見つめる姿勢がある。素材を単なる制作の手段として扱うのではなく、それぞれが持つ性質や時間の経過を受け入れながら、変化していくものとどのように関わることができるのかを探っている。
異なる媒体や素材を通して展開される作品は、固定された形態や完成された状態のみを提示するのではなく、素材の変化や鑑賞者、展示される場所との関係の中で、多様なあり方をひらいていく。

Artist Statement
I see all things—matter, life, the body, and memory—as existing in the world through their relationships with one another, their forms and conditions constantly shifting. Each existence continuously moves into different ways of being as it reshapes the relationships that constitute it. Even when something is forgotten, it does not simply disappear.
I aim for the work itself to exist like soil: taking in various things, accumulating the traces of different relationships, and continuing to change.By incorporating changes in its condition as part of the work, the work is not presented as a fixed object, but as a process of continuing to exist through its relationships.
For me, change is not an end in itself. It is a condition that allows something to remain open to new relationships and to continue existing in the world in another form.
私は、物質や生命、身体、記憶など、あらゆるものは互いに関係し合いながら世界のなかにあり、そのあり方は絶えず移り変わっていると考えている。存在はそれぞれの関係を結び変えながら、異なるあり方へと移り続けていく。存在は忘れられることがあっても、消えることはない。
私は作品そのものが土のように、さまざまなものを受け入れ、様々な関係の痕跡を蓄積しながら変化し続けるような存在であることを目指している。状態が変化することを作品の一部として組み込み、それによって作品は固定されたものではなく、関係性の中で存在し続ける過程そのものとして現れる。
私にとって変化は目的ではない。それは、あるものが新たな関係へと開かれ、別のあり方でこの世界に存在し続けるための条件である。
